Pink Up The Pace Nets $31,400 for Breast Cancer Research in Alabama

On Sunday, October 23, more than 400 racers crossed the finish line at this year’s Pink Up The Pace at Crestline Field in Mountain Brook, netting $31,469 to support breast cancer research across Alabama.

Brought to you by the Junior Board of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama and presented by Vulcan Materials Company, the event featured two races: a 5K and Dolly Dash 1-mile fun run. The festivities began with a special trumpet call by Ryan Beach, a member of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Musicians and included a family-friendly after-party with face painting, the Tickled Pink Petting Zoo, and inflatable bounce house and obstacle course.

“Over the last five years, Pink Up The Pace has raised over $138,000 to fuel the most promising breast cancer research happening across the state, impacting not only breast cancer treatment, but prevention and early diagnosis,” said Dawson Cooper, Chair of the BCRFA Junior Board. “This contribution is undeniable proof of the power of this community’s passion and support. On behalf of the BCRFA Junior Board, I want to thank all the racers and sponsors for joining us in the fight against breast cancer.”

Pink Up The Pace is the BCRFA Junior Board’s primary fundraiser. This year’s event co-chairs were Laura Bradley and Amy O’Neal Stevens.
