A Recipe for Impact: Spring CahabaQue BBQ Cook-Off Raises $29K for Local Breast Cancer Research

More than 1,000 guests gathered at Cahaba Brewing Co. on April 11 for the Spring CahabaQue BBQ Cook-Off, where great food and friendly competition came together to support an important cause. The Spring CahabaQue Cook-Off raised nearly $29,000 for breast cancer research across Alabama, as 15 cook teams fired up their grills and the community showed up in full force.

“What stands out most about CahabaQue is the energy and generosity behind it,” said Eric Meyer, COO and co-owner of Cahaba Brewing Co. “It’s incredible to see so many people come together to support something bigger than themselves. Events like this remind us how impactful a single day can be when a community shows up.”

“CahabaQue continues to be a meaningful driver of support for our mission,” said Beth Davis, BCRFA President & CEO. “Every year, this event brings together passionate individuals who are committed to making a difference. The funds raised allow us to keep investing in promising research and move closer to more effective ways to detect and treat breast cancer.”

Since launching in 2013, CahabaQue has generated over $386,000 in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. Breast cancer impacts an estimated 1 in 8 women and 1 in 726 men over the course of their lives. This year alone, nearly 5,000 women in Alabama are expected to receive a diagnosis.

Building on this momentum, CahabaQue will return this fall with a twist. The Fall CahabaQue Tailgate Challenge will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, bringing a game-day atmosphere to the event as cook teams showcase their best tailgate-inspired dishes.
