Wind Creek Wetumpka Raises Over $20,000

WIND CREEK WETUMPKA RAISES OVER $20,000 FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH IN ALABAMA DURING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Birmingham, AL (December 3, 2019)—In October, Wind Creek Wetumpka partnered for its fourth year with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) to raise money for breast cancer research in Alabama.

Through Wind Creek Wetumpka’s monthly Making a Change program, guests were able to donate change from their winnings to support the BCRFA’s work, including new treatment plans, diagnostic tools and ultimately saving lives. Wind Creek team members also joined in the effort, proudly wearing specialty breast cancer awareness shirts to encourage guest donations and awareness about breast cancer and research. Those pennies and team member efforts added up to a jackpot of $20,100.14 for the BCRFA by the month’s end.

“Wind Creek Wetumpka has continued to increase their donation and blows us away each year with the generosity of their guests and staff,” said Beth Davis, Executive Director of the BCRFA. “Through our continued partnership with Wind Creek, they have raised over $56,000 for breast cancer research, all of which stays in Alabama. However, the support has a global impact.”

All of the proceeds from the Wind Creek Wetumpka fundraising efforts will go towards local breast cancer research. For every dollar raised, the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is able to generate at least $14 in federal funding. This allows for an even greater impact to the fight against breast cancer.

“Our team members and guests look forward to this campaign each October. We look forward to continuing and growing our support of the BCRFA and their goal of funding research and saving lives,” stated Kay Simmons, Wind Creek Wetumpka Property Manager.
