CahabaQue Raises over $14,000 with BBQ & Brews

CAHABAQUE BBQ COOK-OFF BRINGS HUNDREDS TO CAHABA BREWING IN SUPPORT OF BCRFA

The 4th Annual CahabaQue BBQ cook-off took place on Saturday, April 9th at Cahaba Brewing Company, with over $14,000 in proceeds benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA).

Eighteen cook teams competed for the best backyard barbeque and bragging rights with trophies and cash prizes. Winning 1st place and Best CahaButt was “Meatheads – Learning to Love Pork Again” with “Butt Naked & Smokin'” coming in 2nd place. The People’s Choice award went to the Cajun Cleaver’s team, “Butts for Boobs,” and “Dr. Saucelove or: how I learned to stop worrying and love the butt” took home trophies for both Most Charitable and Most Creative Name.

Nearly 1,000 attended the event and enjoyed a beautiful day supporting a wonderful cause.

“We’re excited about the money we were able to raise for the foundation through CahabaQue, thankful for the people who attended and thankful for the support of each team and sponsors,” Eric Meyer, Cahaba Brewing co-owner said. “We hope that the cook-off is a local Birmingham event that people look forward to each year so that it continues to grow in support of BCRFA.”

The 2017 CahabaQue will hold its 5th annual event on Saturday, April 8th.

This year’s sponsors included: Cahaba Brewing Company, Cajun Cleaver, Sirote & Permutt, B-Metro, Humphries Screen Printing, 103.7 The Q and Magic 96.5. Other contributors include Milo’s Tea Company, Mayfield Ice Cream, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and United Johnson Brothers of Alabama.
