ALABAMA FIREFIGHTERS JOIN FORCES WITH BCRFA TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER

Birmingham, AL (September 23, 2019)—The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) and fire departments across the state are teaming up once again for the “Pink Ribbon Project“ t-shirt campaign, raising money for breast cancer research in the state of Alabama.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month in October, fire departments throughout the state will be selling limited-edition pink t-shirts to the general public for $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve shirts. Proceeds will help fund life-saving breast cancer research in Alabama.

“We appreciate the men and women from our Alabama Fire Departments for all that they do throughout the year, and them taking time to support this outreach to their local communities to help support research and save lives,” said Jill Carter, Board of Directors President of the BCRFA.

The idea for the “Pink Ribbon Project” began in 2010 when a few creative fire departments wanted to organize a city-wide fundraising effort to support breast cancer research. They shared BCRFA’s passion for ensuring that all proceeds stay in Alabama to help attract the best and brightest researchers and support life-saving research. The program officially took off in 2011 with the sale of the first “pink” fire department t-shirts. Since then, the shirts designs have changed, but the goal remains the same: to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research in Alabama.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama/Fire Department t-shirts are available at these participating fire stations: Adamsville Fire & Rescue, Beauregard Fire & Rescue, Black Pond Fire & Rescue, Center Point Fire District, Demopolis Fire & Rescue, Double Springs Fire & Rescue, Eastern Valley Fire District, Fairfield Fire & Rescue, Forestdale Fire District, Fultondale Fire & Rescue, Geraldine Fire Department, Helicon Fire & Rescue, Hoover Fire Department, Jemison Fire Department, Leeds Fire & Rescue, Loxley Volunteer Fire Department, Lucy Volunteer Fire Department, Midfield Fire Department, Monrovia Fire & Rescue, Mt. Olive Fire District, Pelham Fire Department, Pell City Fire Department, Poarch Creek Fire & Rescue, Screamer Fire Department, and Warrior Fire Department.

Community members and businesses are encouraged to support and visit the participating fire stations, purchase a “Pink Ribbon Project” t-shirt, take a picture with the local heroes, and support breast cancer research during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
