The City of Calera proudly announces its successful collaboration with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) for the 13th consecutive year, achieving a significant milestone of raising $57,000 during the Calera Goes Pink! campaign.

A NIGHT AT BRICK & TIN PRESENTED BY THRIVENT FINANCIAL RAISES OVER $5,000 FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
On Sunday, June 9th, Thrivent Financial partnered with brick & tin and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) to raise money for breast cancer research through a charity dinner at brick & tin’s Mountain Brook location. The dinner, attended by fifty people, raised over $5,000 for local breast cancer research.
Guests enjoyed a three course meal prepared with local produce from Snow’s Bend Farm and wine pairings from International Wines. “Breast cancer research is something that is very important to my family and, as a board member for the BCRFA, I can personally attest to the amazing impact that they have on the battle against breast cancer. We were so excited to host this event and to be able to raise money for breast cancer research,” said Mauricio Papapietro, owner of brick & tin restaurants.
The night’s menu included an hors d’oeuvres course with pickled shrimp and fried squash blossoms, a first course of early roasted vegetables, a second course of roasted salmon with pecan pesto, and a third course of roasted and raw Chilton County peaches and blackberries with mint yogurt.
The evening was made possible through the Thrivent Community program. “As part of Thrivent Financial’s commitment to serving others, the Thrivent Community provides local grants allowing Financial Professionals to encourage its members to participate in fundraisers to strengthen and build communities where they live, work, and worship,” said Tom Noon of Thrivent.
“We are grateful to Thrivent and brick & tin for joining forces with the BCRFA to help improve outcomes for the one in eight women diagnosed with breast cancer,” stated Beth Davis, executive director of the BCRFA. “Funding research will translate to lives saved.” The BCRFA supports a comprehensive approach to battling breast cancer through collaborative and innovative research to help diagnose, treat, prevent and eradicate the disease. All of the funds raised remain in Alabama, supporting local research, which in turn makes a national impact.
