The Bolt for Breast Cancer 5K and Fun Run returned to Mountain Brook with a display of pink and community support. The annual event has the same goal every year – to fund breast cancer research and save lives. The Bolt for Breast Cancer, organized by the Junior Board of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) and presented by ABC 33/40 and Thrivent, took place at Crestline Field on Sunday, October 5, and raised an impressive $51,689 with 509 participants of the 5K and 1-mile Dolly Dash.

Fueling the Flames of Hope: Alabama Firefighters Join Forces for Pink Ribbon Project
Fifteen fire departments across the state are raising money for local, lifesaving breast cancer research

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) is proud to announce its partnership with fire departments across the state for the annual Pink Ribbon Project t-shirt campaign. This campaign, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, aims to raise funds for breast cancer research right here in Alabama.
Participating fire departments will sell limited edition Pink Ribbon Project t-shirts to the public. Short sleeve t-shirts are $15 and long sleeve t-shirts are $20. All proceeds from these sales will fuel life-saving breast cancer research.
The Pink Ribbon Project ignited in 2010 when several fire departments approached BCRFA with the idea of a city-wide fundraising effort to bolster breast cancer research. Their commitment was clear: all funds raised would remain in Alabama, strengthening the state’s ability to attract top-notch researchers and advance critical research initiatives. The project officially launched in 2011, and has since raised over $603,000.

While the t-shirt designs have evolved over the years, the core mission of the Pink Ribbon Project remains unchanged: to raise both awareness and funds for breast cancer research across the state.
Community members and businesses are encouraged to show their support by visiting their local participating fire stations, purchasing a Pink Ribbon Project t-shirt, and taking a photo with the brave firefighters. Photos shared on social that tag the BCRFA (@BCRFAlabama) may be featured by the organization.
