First National Bank of Talladega Raises Money for Research as part of their 4th Annual "Tickled Pink Day"
November, 2007
On November 9, 2007, the First National Bank of Talladega presented BCRFA President, Marion Walker with a check for $2417.00 to fund breast cancer research. The donation was raised by employees and customers of the bank as part of their 4th Annual "Tickled Pink Day" held the last Friday in October.
The FNB employees purchased t-shirts with the "Tickled Pink Day" logo to wear the day of the event and served refreshments to customers and employees, all focusing on the “pink” theme. For 3 years the bank has had a beautiful pink ribbon quilt made and donated by FNB employee, Susan Arnold. Employees of the bank received donations for breast cancer research from customers to enter for a chance at winning the coveted quilt. This year along with the pink ribbon quilt, PityPat's Tea Room of Lincoln, AL donated a $200 gift basket and Townsend's Lamps and Gifts in Talladega, AL donated a crème brulee scented candle. All three items were given away on "Tickled Pink Day".
The FNB employees had several additional fundraising activities. The bookkeeping department prepared and served lunch to the employees for a donation of $5. The tellers challenged back with all employees wearing jeans on Friday for a donation of $2. The employees of the bank are planning additional fundraisers throughout 2008 including friendly competitive challenges between the departments. Each year they have raised more than the previous year and hope this trend continues.
